Before this weekend’s “Dover 125,” the Trey Hutchens Racing team approached the high-banked, concrete, mile race track with high expectations.

“We came to Dover with one goal: win for WIX Filters, Chevrolet, and everyone who has supported our efforts throughout the season. We have solidified ourselves as a contender in this series this year, and it would’ve been a perfect bookend to find ourselves in victory lane.”

Unfortunately, like most of the 2016 season, luck was not present. After diagnosing a sour engine in the lone practice session due to weather, the Trey Hutchens Racing crew got to work in hopes to right the problem due to not having a back-up engine.

“Dad and I changed quite a few things before the race; however, the motor missed all evening. It is really heart-breaking; the car was the best handling car I’ve ever had at Dover.”

Nonetheless, the WIX Filters Chevrolet was still credited an 11th place finish, nine positions better than the initial starting position due to qualifying being rained out and set per owner points.

“The race was full of attrition. While the motor wasn’t to full song, we were still able to salvage a decent day for the “Filter Out Cancer” car. I just hate we weren’t able to run to our capability.”

The “Dover 125” will be shown on NBC Sports Network on Thursday, October 6th at 4 p.m.
